OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2008. During August the international journal Engineering News Record summarized data and gave Stroytransgaz official notice that, per results of 2007, Stroytransgaz was once again included in its list of the 225 largest engineering and construction companies in the world. This is the second year in a row that Stroytransgaz has entered this prestigious international group as the only Russian company working in the oil and gas and industrial construction sectors.

In the categories of 225 Top Global Contractors (appraisal of total revenue) and 225 Top International Contractors (appraisal of revenue from foreign contractors), Stroytransgaz placed 130th and 124th, respectively, outdistancing such leaders in the international construction market as Parsons (Pasadena, CA, USA), Gama (Turkey), Sinopec Engineering (China), Willbros Group Inc. (USA).

During 2007 Stroytransgaz earned 37.971 billion rubles; its net profit was 428 million rubles. The joint-stock company strengthened its positions and expanded its activities in international markets while successfully continuing operations in Algeria, Greece, India, and Syria.

In 2007 Stroytransgaz was the first Russian business to enter the Saudi Arabian construction market, when it began laying the 217-kilometer Sheiba-Abqaiq oil pipeline. The company opened a branch office in the United Arab Emirates, and it began negotiations for participation in the Kirkyk-Baniyas oil pipeline in Iraq.

Foreign contracts as a share in Stroytransgaz’s total revenue in 2007 rose to 21 percent.

In the current year, the company will continue its program to expand foreign operations. Thus in Abu-Dhabi on July 24 representatives of Stroytransgaz and Dolphin Energy Ltd. signed a contract to build the Taweelah-Fujairah gas pipeline in the UAE. This is the first major fuel and energy project in the United Arab Emirate to be implemented with the participation of a Russian construction company.
