OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2008. In the period from August 10-16, S7 Airlines, Russia’s largest air carrier by number of transported passengers on domestic routes, helped the Russian Boat Fishing team to organize their trip to the European Championships, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.

Yulia Goncharova won the first Russian medal of the European Championships among women, taking the honorific third place, beating out competitors from England, Norway, Wales, Belgium, Denmark and Gibraltar.

A total of 170 athletes from 13 countries vied for the top spots. The delegation of the Russian team included 13 people, including two women. The athletes competed both individually and as part of their national teams consisting of 5 people each.

S7 Airlines provided uniforms for the Russian team, which it will be able to use in the future in other tournaments, and helped to transport oversize fishing gear in the airplane.

The Russian division of the federation, which assembled the Russian team, is competing for the first time in the championship, which is being held in Ireland.

S7 Airlines is the only airline that operates regular direct flights from Moscow to Dublin.

Flights are operated three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays on a modern Airbus A319 airliner. S7 Airlines flew the first flight on this route on April 27, 2008.
