OREANDA-NEWS. September 3, 2008. The negotiations between Russia and Uzbekistan resulted in signing Intergovernmental peaceful Earth observation and space exploration program by the Russian Federation and the Uzbekistan Republic.

Many entities and organisations, such as Roscosmos, Russian Academy of Sciences, REKOD public company, contributed into preparing the document for signature.

A.N. Perminov, Roscosmos Administrator, was among those who arranged the development and took part in signing the intergovernmental program.

Russian space technologies will arrive at Uzbekistan. The agreement covers two aspects- customer services and science.

Russia will facilitate Uzbekistan actively in organizing Earth remote sensing state center. The data obtained from the satellites will be used for mapping. In addition, satellite support is intended for urban planning activities.

It is also targeted that Russia will assist Uzbekistan on mutually beneficial basis in designing satellite monitoring systems for agricultural areas and vehicles.

A coordination board is to be established to supervise implementation of the scientific experimental program.
