OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 September 2008 was announced, that in accordance with the Order of the Administration for Water Resources of Russia as of 28 August 2008, waste charges of Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station will be lowered. The press service of the agency reports that now waste charges equal 3,050 cu. km/s. Later, waste charges will be decreased up to 2,500 cu. km/s. Decrease is caused by necessity to bring the water level in lake Baikal in conformity with the level established by the legislation.

The press release says that the next discussion of work of the Angara -Yenisei cascade of hydroelectric power stations will be held on 2 September in Krasnoyarsk at the meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group for regulation of operating modes of water basins of the Angara -Yenisei cascade and Northern Hydroelectric Power Stations, the water level of lake Baikal.

The water level in lake Baikal on 18 - 19 August was on the level of 456.92 m; from 20 August to 24 August it was stabilized on the mark of 456.93 m. As of 25 August, the average level was 456.92 m under the Pacific Ocean System of Heights. The Operating mode of the Irkutsk hydrounit was performed by waste charges of 3,200 cu. km/s. This was reported in the information item on the water economic conditions of the Federal Water Resources Agency.

Waste charges through Ust-Ilimsk hydrounit since 19 August have been carried out in the amount of 2,900 cu. km/s from the condition of maintenance of navigable levels on the Nizhnyaya Angara.
