OREANDA-NEWS. On September 3, 2008 a ceremonial unveiling of the monument to Sergey Korolev, the founder of the Russian space industry, took place in Moscow, in the Aleey of the Space Heroes. The ceremony was attended by Yury Luzhkov, the Mayor of Moscow, Anatoly Perminov, Roscosmos Administrator, Ludmila Shevtsova and Yury Roslyak, the Mayor Deputies, Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman- cosmonaut and the Hero of the USSR, Boris Chertok, a scientist, and a designer, and one of the closest Korolev`s colleagues, and an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian cosmonauts, Natalya Koroleva, Korolev`s daughter, and other honored guests.

Unveiling the monument and the renewed Alley presents a token of the deepest respect and appreciation towards the memories about an outstanding engineer and scientist, a genious designer of space and rocket systems, Sergey Pavlovich Korolev.

Roscosmos Administrator Anatoly Perminov noted in his speech that Korolev had been introducing the technologies which were still considered as up-to-date achievements of the mankind all over the world. "Our goal, - said Mr. Perminov, - is to bring all the space industry branches established and perfected by Korolev to a new stage of evolution".

Roscosmos Administrator expressed his appreciation towards Yury Luzhkov, and towards the Moscow city, for cherishing the memory about the founders of the space industry, which is being under careful supervision by Yury Luzhkov not only as a Mayor, but as a professional in space industry.

Boris Chertok also passed appreciation and obeisance from the veterans and constructors of the rocket and space systems, to the creators of the monument. He said that the space industry had always been an honour for our great country.
