OREANDA-NEWS On 04 September was announced, that a traffic flow without signal lights is to be launched on the section of Varshavskoe Highway from the MKAD to Shcherbinka town of the Moscow region in late September.

“The reconstruction of Varshavskoe Highway is divided in 3 stages. The first one involves the 3 km section from the MKAD to Melitopolskaya Street that has been recently opened. The second one involves 2.5 km from Melitopolskaya Street to Shcherbinka scheduled to be open at the end of September,” Pyotr Aksyonov, first deputy head of Department of Urban Design Policy, Development and Reconstruction of Moscow, said.

According to him, the third stage involves the construction of a tunnel under the line to Kursk of Moscow Railways scheduled to be completed by 2009.

The official added that there would be 4 lanes in each direction on Varshavskoe Highway under reconstruction as well as in the tunnel under the railway line that is currently being built.

“Besides, we plan to build a new highway along the neighborhoods 1-4 of Shcherbinka with an exit to the widened Varshavskoe Highway,” Mr Aksyonov noted.
