OREANDA-NEWS  On 04 September that OMZ OJSC (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY) announced that IZ-KARTEX, a part of OMZ Group, shipped 23 major items of mining machinery in the first half of 2008, compared with 16 during the comparable period a year ago. Included were 18 EKG-10 shovels, one EKG-12 shovel, two EKG-15 shovels, one EG-110 hydraulic shovel and one modernized SBSh-270IZ drilling rig.

The company also supplied 2,796 tons of spare parts, tools and accessories for the period.

In 2008 the company expects to produce and supply 49 mining machines of various types for customers such as Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Stoilensky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Sibirsky Antratsit OJSC, Kachkanarsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Sebryakovcement OJSC, Apatit-Russia OJSC, Severny Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Inguletsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Poltavsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC (Ukraine), Kazakhstan’s Aluminium OJSC, Euro-Asian Energy Corporation (Kazakhstan), Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant OJSC (Uzbekistan), Vietnam National Coal Corporation, Chador Malu (Iran). IZ-KARTEX will produce spare parts for shovels and supply them to Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC, Kachkanarsky Mining and Processing Plant OJSC and others.

IZ-KARTEX reports that it has signed new contracts to supply mining shovels to several Chinese customers, as well as Sokolovo-Sarbaiskoye GPO (Kazakhstan) and Alrosa OJSC. Taken together, these contracts have contributed to the company’s largest annual sales portfolio in over 15 years.
