OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. Around 10 hectares of vineyards will be laid out in the Gomel oblast in 2009.
The new vineyards are expected to be laid out in the agricultural company Vostok (Gomel region). A team of Belarusian scientists are expected to monitor the process of grape cultivation in the company. They will also train local agrarians to cultivate this kind of plant.

The grape produced in Vostok is expected to be used for production of cognac spirits.

In 1955, the vineyards only in the Khoiniki region of the Gomel oblast occupied 27 hectares. It was the best times of the Belarusian wine growing.
