OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno has started producing antimicrobial polyester threads, head of the company’s marketing department Tatiana Gorina said.

The new product uses Sanitized additive made by Austrian Clariant company to deliver an antibacterial effect for many bacteria. The product is compliant with Ecotex-100 standard, which defines safety norms: content of certain chemicals (textile auxiliaries, coupling agents), dye durability under certain conditions, pH factor of water extract and others.

Textile materials made using the antimicrobial polyester thread provide reliable hygiene for finished goods. Apart from that, the additive makes textile products genuinely compatible with the skin, gives them lasting hygienic freshness, comfort during wear. The effect is especially vivid for linen and underwear as well as socks and hosiery.

The available equipment allows the company to produce threads varying in thickness. At present negotiations are in progress for supplying the antimicrobial polyester thread to Vitebsk Hosiery and Knitted Goods Factory and OAO Mogotex.

A presentation of the new product for foreign partners will be held as part of a specialised textile goods exhibition Expofil, which takes place in Paris on September 23-26.

Founded in 1964, Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno is a major Belarusian petrochemical company and is part of Belarusian petrochemical concern Belneftekhim. The company incorporates enterprises, which produce textile threads and artificial fibres. The company employs over 6,000 people.
