OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. A group of French parliamentarians have visited Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine before the forthcoming meeting of the heads of the Russian and French governments with the participation of Rosatom.

The visit took place Sept 3–5. The member of the National Assembly of France Claude Gatignol said that AECC was quite well known in France. The guests wanted to see the Russian uranium enrichment technologies with their own eyes. They pointed out the high security and efficiency of the technological process at AECC.

The French parliamentarians said that the establishment of an international uranium enrichment center on the basis of AECC was a vital project. They said that the French public showed a prevailingly positive attitude towards nuclear energy and the public awareness work in France was based on transparency, accessibility and honesty.

The guests also visited the Sovremennik culture palace and AECC Museum. They pointed out that the company implemented an effective social policy and the residents of the city enjoyed excellent conditions for creativity and recreation.

The French parliamentarians expressed hope that Russia and France would continue their fruitful cooperation not only in the nuclear industry but also in other sectors of mutual interest.
