OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. In January-August, 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 11.076.2 million tonnes of cargo (+26.1%, year-on-year). In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 6.611.0 million tonnes (+30.7%, year-on-year) including 1.528.7 million tonnes of dry loose and bulk cargo (up 23.4 times) with 258,700 tonnes of ore (up 4.5 times), 1.123.8 million tonnes of coal (up 147.9 times). In the 8-month period transshipment of timber fell 2.9 times to 672,000 tonnes including 483,700 tonnes of round timber (down 3.4 times) and 188,300 tonnes of sawn timber (down 1.8 times). In January-August, the port handled 4.246.8 million tonnes of general cargo (+47.3%) including 3.363.1 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+35.5%), 171,200 tones of non-ferrous metal (+69%), 122,700 tonnes of scrap metal (+28.9%). In the reported period transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 21,000 tonnes (-42.3%), packaged goods – up 2.3 times to 344,500 tonnes. The port’s container throughput grew by 16.7%, year-on-year, to 35,899 TEU. Transshipment of oil products totaled 4.465.2 million tonnes (+19.8%).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
