OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. In January-August, 2008, Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 4.106.1 million tonnes of cargo (+42%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.

In the reported period, transshipment of export cargo exceeded the results of 2007 by 89% to 2.106.9 million tonnes including 1.303.9 million tonnes of metal and hard components and 204,800 tonnes of containerized cargo (64,045 TEU).

In the 8-month period, transshipment of import cargo amounted to 1.247.6 million tonnes of cargo (+14%, year-on-year) including 557,700 tonnes of containerized cargo (57,650 TEU), 368,600 tonnes of automobiles and equipment cargo (171,085 units), 15,600 tonnes of bulk clinker.

In January-August, transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 751,600 tonnes (+11%) including 476,700 tonnes of containerized cargo (49,165 TEU) and 215,300 tonnes of oil products.

In the reported period, transshipment of metal and hard components accounted for 33% of the company’s total throughput (1.346.6 million tonnes); containers - 30% (1.246.6 million tonnes, or 170,860 TEU); general cargo - 21% (842,200 tonnes), automobiles and equipment - 9%. Transshipment of dry bulk cargo accounting for 10% of the port’s total throughput amounted to 420,800 tonnes including 188,400 tonnes of scrap metal, 64,400 tonnes of raw sugar, 15,600 tonnes of clinker, 13,700 tonnes of grain. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo account for 5% of the port’s total throughput - 215,700 tonnes, timber - 1% (16,600 tonnes).

As of the end of August, the port fulfilled 82% of the plan for 2008.

In the reported period, the port handled 48,057 wagons and 2,146 vessels.
