OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. Azerbaijan is not dismissing exotic version of a “large gas” export expected after 2013.

SOCAR Vice-President Elshad Nasirov said that gas export to Asia through Turkmenistan can be considered as the fourth gas export direction after Western Europe, Russia and Iran.

Yesterday Turkmengaz Chairman Baimurad Khojmohammedov said that Turkmenistan has launched the construction of the gas pipeline up to Caspian Sea and is negotiating on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline perspectives.

“Turkmenistan’s major export partners are still Gazprom (Russia) and NICO (Iran),” B.Khojmohammedov said.

During its full-scale development it will be produced 35 bn cu m of gas a year. Taking into account new fields to be commissioned, till 2015 gas production in Azerbaijan will grow up to 43 bn cu m. Last year it was produced 17 bn cu m of gas.
