OREANDA-NEWS  On 09 September was announced, that a new flyover at the intersection of Leningradskoe and Golovinskoe highway included in the reconstruction of Bolshaya Leningradka opened in Moscow on September 6.

A grand opening ceremony involved a number of officials, including Moscow City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and Aleksandr Levchenko, Head of Department of Road and Bridge Engineering of Moscow.

“Today we are opening 560 metres of the flyover without traffic lights where vehicles will go on 4 lanes in each direction. This flyover will simplify traffic movement through Leningradka,” the city mayor of Moscow said.

According to Mr Luzhkov, in total, 20 stretches with traffic free of signal lights are to be launched within the reconstruction of Leningradsky Highway and Leningradsky Avenue.

A two-level car park for 360 vehicles is located on both sides under the flyover. The legs of transmission facilities stood along Leningradskoe and Golovinskoe highways as well as the underground pipelines had been renewed before the reconstruction was launched.

Besides, the builders have upgraded the street lighting and a contact system for trolleybuses. The old crosswalk has been substituted for a new underground passage.
