OREANDA-NEWS  On 11 September was announced, that Ingosstrakh made a payment of USD 3 532 047.90 as a settlement for the loss of Neftegaz 67, a tug boat. The ship was insured by Ingosstrakh against the risk of total loss and damages. IJSC Ingosstrakh did not insure the ship owner’s liability.

On March 22, 2008 Neftegaz 67 tug boat was making a voyage with a freight of oil extraction equipment from Chivan (China) to the South China Sea with XJ 23.1 Platform as its final destination when, already in the marginal waters of Hong Kong, the vessel collided with a Chinese panamax bulker, Yao Hai, GRT 36 544, that was being piloted at the time of the collision. Neftegaz 67 sustained serious starboard damages and flipped over to sink go down within two minutes.

According to Vadim Semienkov, Head of Ingosstrakh’s Claims Settlement Division, Hong Kong area is known to have the world’s busiest sea traffic, where serious collisions are very frequent.
