OREANDA-NEWS  On 11 September was announced, that on September 5 Almaty hosted a trade and project financing seminar. The event was sponsored by BTA Bank, the U.S. Export Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) and John Deere, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery widely known both in Kazakhstan and the CIS. The seminar has covered development of business ties between Kazakhstan and U.S. by means of finance tools of the U.S. Ex-Im Bank, in particular through cooperation with second-tier banks. The Commerce Service of the U.S. Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan have arranged the event.

Participants of the seminar were informed about trade financing tools and a number of programs available at BTA Bank that provide mid- and long-term financing of imports from the U.S. with the U.S. Ex-Im Bank acting as guarantor.

For reference: BTA Bank closed the first deal against security of the U.S. Ex-Im Bank in 2000. The two banks have been had successful cooperation for years, they have pro-actively applied various schemes to finance BTA clients with the U.S. Ex-Im Bank as guarantor.
