OREANDA-NEWS  On 15 September  was announced, that MIRAX GROUP completed the update of Kursk Train Station in Moscow within the implementation of the Concept by RZD [Russian Railways] aimed at the efficient use and development of the train stations scheduled till 2015, MIRAX’s official site reported.

A grand opening of the renewed Kursk Train Station was held on September 11. The event involved Yuri Luzhkov, Moscow City Mayor, Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, Sergey Abramov, Head of Management of Train Stations (the RZD’s subsidiary), and Aleksandr Kuzmin, Head Architect of Moscow.

“This project is unique. For the first time in Russia an approach to the railway sector has been revised, the primary importance was assigned to passengers’ aims,” Maksim Privezentsev, the member of Board of Directors at MIRAX GROUP, noted.

Mr Privezentsev added that a modern train station was not only a traffic centre but also a public and business centre, a secure social object, a complex operating 24 hour a day and above all it is a face of the city. MIRAX was trying to make Kursk Train Station the pride of Moscow.

“The areas have remained the same but their content has been changed – passengers are provided with maximum comfort and security. The information system created here should be noted especially – it includes the very up-to-date solutions used currently at train stations all over the world,” Yuri Luzhkov said.

Vladimir Yakunin rated Kursk Train Station as a good example of the way a train station can be updated using the up-to-date technologies. “We were very glad when we had found a partner interested in realizing the project,” President of RZD emphasized.

The work on the principle of providing passengers with maximum comfort required a global change of the infrastructure, the introduction of new technologies and designs. A special attention was paid to preserve the historical view of Kursk Train Station. The roofs, roofage and inner halls of the old building which are richly decorated with moulding, stained glass and pictures have been restored. The train station had undergone the overhaul including the substitution of pipelines and networks.

Kursk Train Station has been updated from the inside as well – its services have been improved and a number of them has been raised, its logistics has been refined and the new security system has been introduced.

According to Sergey Abramov, Kursk Train Station is the most secure train station in Moscow. “The secure system introduced here enables to prevent the majority of offences and this has been proved in practice more than once,” Head of Management of Train Stations said.
