OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2008. The onshore processing facility (OPF), located off the northeast shore of Sakhalin, received first offshore gas, reported the press-centre of Sakhalin Energy.

The gas from offshore production platform Molikpaq is exported through offshore and onshore pipelines, and is used to commission the process facilities at the OPF. Before connection to new offshore and onshore pipeline system the associated gas produced at Molikpaq was re-injected into wells.

Over the next few weeks the gas will be used to commission the process facilities at the OPF and power generation plant at both the OPF and PA-B platform, where the gas turbines will be switched from diesel to gas firing.

Molikpaq is located 15 km off the northeastern coast of Sakhalin island. Until this year the Molikpaq platform produced only during the ice-free season. This year the company plans to start a year round production from the Molikpaq.

The OPF is located near the northeastern coast of Sakhalin, 7 km inland from the LUN-A platform pipeline landfall.

The OPF is designed to treat the Lunskoye flied gas and condensate prior to their piping to the oil export terminal and LNG plant at Prigorodnoye, in the south of Sakhalin. The OPF will also receive oil and gas from the Piltun-Astokhskoye field offshore platform to prepare them for further pipeline transportation to Prigorodnoye.
