OREANDA-NEWS  On 17 September was announced, that a new air terminal of Sheremetyevo international airport of Moscow called Sheremetyevo-2A will start operating in 2010.

On September 12 the airport of Moscow and Hochtief AG, the German construction company developing the new air terminal, observed the completion of the key stage of the development that is the assemblage of reinforced concrete structures and the erection of a roof.

“Hochtief credits the constructive business relations with Sheremetyevo. I am sure that the new air terminal Sheremetyevo-2A will open in the scheduled time – in 2010,” Tom Schmidt, head of the Moscow office of Hochtief AG, said.

The new air terminal with the area of 76,000 sq m “will provide air passengers and guests with a wide range of services by means of the up-to-date architectural and technological concepts.” Sheremetyevo will offer new commercial areas for shops, bars, restaurants, boutiques and salons to the business partners from the Duty Free chain.

Mikhail Vasilenko, CEO of Sheremetyevo, noted that the air port was on the threshold of global engineering update. “The airport is to become an advanced and dynamic hub in 14-16 months,” the official added.

Due to the introduction of the multiterminal complex that is to link Sheremetyevo-2, Sheremetyevo-2A, Sheremetyevo-3 and Aeroexpress train terminal, a unique area for the activity of Sky Team and other air carriers as well as for the hub development will appear.

The integrated terminal complex Sheremetyevo will be able to serve up to 25 million passengers yearly.
