OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2008. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev offers neighbor countries to set up joint research centers for implementing big high-tech projects in the field of nuclear, bio- and agri-technologies.

“Our countries are opening technoparks, science cities. I suggest considering the possibilities of establishing joint research centers,” Nazarbayev said while speaking at a forum of borderline regions.

He invited colleagues to implement high-tech projects in the field of information, nuclear, bio- and agri-technologies. “We can effectively cooperate on an inter-regional level,” Nazarbayev said. He instructed education and science ministries and departments to draft plans of joint action for research organization.

Nazarbayev believes that Kazakhstan and Russia may effectively cooperative in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

“Presently, we are implementing a joint project to design reactors of low and medium capacity and consolidating the capabilities of our nuclear companies. We are aiming not only to build nuclear power plants but also to use the technologies we are developing together for entering the international market,” Nazarbayev said.

The cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia in the field of innovations should be aimed at consolidation of scientific and industrial resources, establishing joint funds, forming a system of exchange of advanced technologies. “We have set up a number of venture funds and a number of big international technological enters in Japan, the US, Germany, Singapore and other countries. This allows us to cooperate with the world’s biggest technological companies, to build up an open system of exchange of knowledge and experience. Kazakhstan and Russia might exchange advanced technologies and might consider buying high-tech companies and transferring their technological capacities to the territories of our states,” Mazarbayev said.
