OREANDA-NEWS  On 29 September was announced, that mechanics of Selhozholding Ltd. resumed thrashing of cereals – at last prolonged rains stopped, which prevented harvesting not only in the Romanovsky district but also throughout the whole of the Altay territory. At present, Selhozholding harvested grain from 60% of the sown area. Growers are yet to harvest wheat from 7,000 ha. Before the rains, this arable unit collected over 8,000 tonnes of grain. As directors of the enterprise forecast, the areas which haven’t been harvested yet will bring no less than 8,5 tonnes of wheat. Unless the weather conditions interfere, thrashing will be completed promptly, since the machinery fleet here includes several combines ‘Mega’ and other modern aggregates with high productivity.

Simultaneously, the enterprise is conducting other autumn field operations. This year, Selhozholding plans to cultivate fall-plowed land on 15,000 hectares. It should be noted that rains virtually didn’t hinder working of the ‘New Holland’ tractor with a mulch cultivator ‘Rubin’. According to Ivan Viziryako, director of the enterprise, the biggest part of Selhozholding area will be cultivated with this aggregate. The advantage of cultivating by ‘Rubin’ is that it not only loosens soil, grinds and beds plant residues of the forecrop and weeds but at the same time levels the land.

PAVA helped Selhozholding in substantial renovation of its machinery fleet. This spring, investment in preparation for harvesting campaign also including purchase of high-quality seeds and fertilizers, exceeded 80 mln. roubles. This investment paid back: now, the average yield on the lands of the enterprise is 12,4 hundredweight/ha – higher that the regional average. It should also be taken into account that this was achieved on depleted soils whose previous owners often mismanaged the land, omitting crop rotation.

However, Selhozholding doesn’t mean to rest on the laurels: with PAVA’s support, upgrade of machinery fleet, sowing and cultivating complexes will continue. Reputation of a large, rapidly developing company (PAVA is the largest grain processor not only in Siberia but also over the Urals) allows to invest significant internal funds in development of agricultural production as well as attract vast credit resources. The company’s reputation is well grounded: following the results of 2007, when PAVA shipped 17% of the total volume of exported flour to the countries of far and near abroad, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade declared it Best Exporter of the Industry.
