OREANDA-NEWS. On September 20 in Moscow completed its work V International Junior Forest Contest, which united young people at the age up to 20 years from more than two tens countries of the world

With each next year the number of competitors and countries-participants has been steadily increasing. In this year among new participants were students from Bangladesh, Cuba and Japan.

At the International contest were submitted the best works, preliminary selected in participating countries. As it was found, young people from different continents are interested basically in the same problems: worsening ecology, disappearing from the face of the earth many species of animals and plants, forest fires and natural disasters, barbaric treating nature by people.

During two days competitors have been defending their research works in front of International Nomination Committee. As recognized the judges, the majority of works were fulfilled on good scientific level with deep analyses.

Russia at International contest was represented by four winners of All-Russia Junior Forest Contest “Young Growth”. Already in May 2008 they proved that works submitted by Russian schoolboys and schoolgirls at this prestigious contest deserved the status of course works developed by university students.

Except presenting their works the contest participants also took part in organized form them extensive cultural program: Moscow sightseeing tour, visits to museums, disco party etc. They were greatly impressed by excursion to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. They were acquainted with the history of parliamentarianism in Russia, were present at a plenary meeting and also met some State Duma members at the Committee on Natural Resources and Ecology.

Present V International Junior Forest Contest was timed to celebrating 210 anniversary of Forest Department of Russia and National day of forest worker. That’s why the winners of the contest received their prizes in the hall of the Malyi Theatre at festive meeting devoted to these events. The first prize won young foresters from Bulgaria Ivalin PETKOV and Todor TODOROV. By the way, that was their first reward for the whole history of the contest.

In accordance with tradition the winners received the first prize – “Crystal Ball” – the sign of high recognition of their research work by International Judges and also money bonus. The second prize won a competitor from Russia Ekaterina PETUKHOVA. The third prize shared between them Yulduz GULYAMOVA, Askat uulu MIRLAN from Uzbekistan and Marambek kyzy AIZADA from Kyrgyz Republic.
At the rewarding ceremony of V International Junior Forest Contest all winners of All-Russia contest “Young Growth” received from Victor SANAEV, Rector of Moscow State University of Forest, certificates granting them the right of entering this university.
