OREANDA-NEWS. October 1, 2008. Gomel will host the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix ‘Golden Lynx’ on October 2-4.

This is the first time that Belarus will host such a high-level tournament. Before then these were Moscow and St. Petersburg that had been awarded the honour to host juniour Grand Prix events among post Soviet Union cities.

Some 113 young athletes under 20 from more than 30 countries of Europe, America, Asia and Australia will take part in the tournament. Among them there will be the winners and prize winners of the past world cups and last year’s champions.

The most representative delegations have been sent by Russia, America, Canada and China. Belarus will be represented by three dance pairs and six single figure skaters.

The tournament will finish on October 4 with an exhibition gala of the winners and prize winners of the Grand Prix tournament and also many famous figure skaters.
