OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2008. The Agricultural Policy Ministry of Ukraine is predicting grain harvest of 50 million tons in Ukraine in 2009, Deputy Agriculture Minister Yaroslav Hadzalo told the 7th information conference Grain Industry 2008 in Kyiv.

He added that in trading weight, Ukraine's grain crop in 2009 is estimated at about 48.6 million tons.

Hadzalo noted that this forecast is largely based on the current sowing campaign in Ukraine, running in a high pace in all provinces. The situation makes the ministry think that about 70% of winter crops will be sown in good time.

The more so that the number of farms applying advanced sowing technologies rose 30% this year, the deputy minister added.
