OREANDA-NEWS  On 06 October was announced, that IDGC of Centre, JSC made a test launch of a distribution transformer substation (DTS) with a capacity of 4.6 MW that will connect Botanika new inhabited microdistrict, the Oryol Region, to the electric system.

Now the substation is running at idle speed. Within two weeks the servicemen brigades will check up the reliability of the equipment and eliminate all possible malfunctions.

According to the experts, the installation was made properly, and there are no problems concerning the input of the new energy facility. The substation will be launched in mid October.

As Head of Orelenergo Department of Technological Connection Alexei Danilov puts it, this kind of equipment was established for the first time in Oryol. The substation, having the same capacity than similar substations, has a ten times more capacity.  The DTS was installed in just eight hours, as the equipment was supplied together with the modular-designed technical construction. Therefore, the workers did not have to spend time on construction of a brick block.

Another advantage of the new DTS is the following: in case of a cutshot of the main electric power source, its equipment will automatically switch to the reserve one. This means that the microdistrict population will always have light in their houses.

The substation receives power from 110 kV Zavodskaya substation. The electric energy is supplied through a cable made of sewed polyethylene with armour cover that was made specially for installation in the earth with a high corrosion activity.

The first blocks of flats in the microdistrict will be opened in October. Around eleven thousand people are expected to live in Botanika microdistrict.
