OREANDA-NEWS  On 09 October was announced, that growers of Selhozholding Ltd. completed the harvesting campaign on the fields of the Romanovsky District. At present, several combines from Romanovo are already working on the lands of Seliverstovo, a separate unit of this enterprise, situated in the Volchiha District of the Altay Territory. Here, it remains to harvest 650 ha of wheat. Taking into consideration that one more combine from Selhozholding is on its way to Volchiha District, these operations will not take up more than 2 days.

Over 7,360 tonnes of wheat is harvested from the area in the Romanovsky district, average yield of the arable unit reaching 12,5 hundredweight per ha. This is an adequate result for the fields where Selhozholding Ltd. is only starting to conduct operations – the crop harvested by the enterprise is the second. Especially considering that weather conditions weren’t too favourable this year: long and cold spring, drought during the active vegetation period for the cereals and autumn rainfall, which for long spells had hindered harvesting – all of this had its impact on the yield of the crops. However, the yield in Selhozholding is higher than the regional average, and all wheat harvested here is third-grade.

The enterprise was able to achieve successful results owing to support of the parent company OJSC PAVA. PAVA granted financial aid to the arable unit for purchasing new, highly efficient machinery, quality seeds of elite sorts of wheat, herbicides and fertilizers. Agricultural production is a relatively new line of business for the company, which currently ranks as the largest grain processor in the Asian part of Russia. The deserved reputation of a large, rapidly developing company allows PAVA to attract significant credit resources and invest them in the development of this activity, along with financing from the company’s own funds. It gives ground to claim that in the nearest future, PAVA’s arable units are well placed to repeat the success of the parent company which was declared Best Exporter of the Industry by Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in 2007.
