OREANDA-NEWS  On 13 October was announced, that AvtoKrAZ Holding Company (KRAZ) put into operation an overhaul plant for updating KrAZ car park in Cienfuegos, Cuba.

The holding delivered 20 KrAZ vehicle sets to Cuba within the framework of the modernization program. Cuba had been one of the biggest importers of KrAZ trucks by 1992; over 10,000 of Kremenchuk trucks have been supplied on the market in different periods.

The Cuban Construction Ministry offered AvtoKrAZ Holding Company to update cars by replacing cabins, units, and aggregates with new engines.

The project is being carried out jointly with SOMEC, the Cuban organization on the basis of the existing enterprise. A total of 140 vehicle sets are planned to be delivered by the end of 2008. The company intends to develop modernization concepts for assembly plant. KrAZ trucks assembled in Cuba are supposed to be used under the Alba project during construction works in Angola and Venezuela.

Over 200 trucks have been delivered to Cuba since the beginning of the year: KrAZ-6510 dump trucks with a total capacity of 15 tons, equipped with 10.5-cubic meters platform; KrAZ-6124P4 seven-cubic meters transit concrete mixers with a mixing equipment driven by separate engine; KrAZ-64431 truck tractors.

All the vehicles are adapted to tropical conditions.

The holding won six tenders for supplying vehicles to Cuba.

In August, AvtoKrAZ, the producer of heavy-duty cars in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, won a tender on supplying special-purpose cars to the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Protection of Population from Chornobyl Accident Consequences in October.

In 2007, AvtoKrAZ produced 4,206 KrAZ trucks with vehicle sets, 20.7% or 721 up on 2006.

AvtoKrAZ stated a net profit of UAH 74.113 million for 2007.

AvtoKrAZ specializes in the production of 28 base models of dump trucks for opencast mines, timber trucks, tractor trucks, automobiles with enhanced maneuverability for the army, oil and gas mining equipment, and over 400 automobile modifications.
