OREANDA-NEWS  On 14 October was announced, that the RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan received Mari Yovanovich, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Armenia. Nerses Yeritsyan welcomed Mrs. Yovanovich with the beginning of the diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished her fruitful activity, hoping that the existing friendly relations between the countries will take higher level and new content during her tenure as an Ambassador.

The American Ambassador expressed satisfaction regarding current trade and economic ties, emphasizing the recent development and expansion of business ties.

During the meeting Mari Yovanovich wished to know about the Ministries priorities and the main directions of the Governmental program of RA.

Nerses Yeritsyan presented to the Ambassador the Governmental program's and especially the Ministry's primary issues, and also informed about the recent and future work activities.

Mr. Minister stressed the importance of the American-Armenia economic cooperation working group's session (intergovernmental commission), which will take place in Washington, at the end on November of current year.

During the discussion, Nerses Yeritsyan underlined, that the RA Government is realizing team work, aimed at the increase of the global competitiveness of Armenia. And to envisage this goal the National Competitiveness Board of Armenia developed the Concept. According that concept Armenia will strive to achieve "Excellencies" in education, healthcare, finance, doing business and tourism. Also Armenia will try to sign the Free Trade agreement in deep with EU.

Touching upon the Ministries priorities, Mr. Yeritsyan presented nine primary goals: governance and electronic society, innovations, high qualified services, regional development, as well as building up the appropriate infrastructure for the knowledge economy.

At the end of the meeting, Mari Yovanovich gave a positive assessment to the programs, adopted by the Armenian Government and wished Mr. Minister good luck.
