OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2008. Ukraine and Syria will, within a month, discuss conditions for the supply of Ukrainian grain, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Olexandr Turchynov said after a meeting of the Ukrainian-Syrian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Damascus.

"The Agriculture Ministry is now considering proposals from Syria. I can say that this will be a large-scale supply of up to 1 million tons and the prospect is designed for many years," he said, adding that Ukrainian and Syrian experts are drafting a logistics scheme and determining the amount of Ukrainian grain to be supplied to Syria.

"I think we will soon sign respective agreements," Turchynov said.

As it was earlier reported, Syrian Finance Minister Mohammad al-Hussein said at a meeting of the Ukrainian-Syrian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Damascus that Syria is interested in the delivery of fodder grain from Ukraine.
