OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2008. In order to discuss the issues of the cooperation between Russia and India the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Mr. Igor Artemiev met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Mr. Prabhat Prakash Shukla, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

In particular, the issues of the access of the medicines, produces by the Indian companies, to the market of the Russian Federation as well as participation of the Indian companies in the tenders on the public procurements were considered. The Head of the Authority underlined that the participation of the Indian companies in supply of the medicines to the markets of the Russian Federation develops competition and decreases the cost of the state programs with securing the quality of medical goods at the same time.

The Parties discussed the application of the Federal Law "Procedures for Foreign Investments in the Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian National Defense and State Security".

At the meeting the Parties agreed to hold the meeting of the representatives of the Russian antimonopoly authority with the Indian businessmen of the basis of the Embassy of India in Moscow. The aim of the meeting is to explain the aspects of the competition legislation of the Russian Federation and law enforcement practice of the FAS Russia.

The Parties came to the agreement to develop cooperation between Russia and India in the spheres of competition policy and control over public procurements.
