OREANDA-NEWS  On 17 October was announced, that OJSC PAVA subsidiaries summarize the first results of the grain harvesting campaign. More than 20.5 thousand tonnes of wheat was harvested from 20,294 ha. The best yields were achieved in the Kamensky district of the Altay Territory; here, it reached 16.6 hundredweight of wheat per ha. It should be noted that despite adverse weather conditions of the current year, yield of the wheat of ‘Altayskaya 530’ variety stood at 32 hundredweight per ha on fallow lands. Next year, the enterprise is planning to sow about 2,000 ha with own primary wheat seeds of this variety. This is a very good result, especially taking into account that new PAVA subsidiaries were set up on the basis of bankrupt or close to bankruptcy enterprises; on the lands that had been grossly mismanaged or not cultivated at all.

PAVA lends financial aid to its daughter companies for purchases of new highly efficient machinery, quality seeds of elite wheat varieties, herbicides and fertilizers. Agricultural production is a relatively new line of activities for PAVA, the largest grain processor in the Asian part of Russia. The deserved reputation of a large, rapidly developing company allows PAVA to invest significant own resources and attract credit for development of agricultural production. This gives all reasons to claim that PAVA arable units will soon repeat the success of the parent company, which was declared Best Exporter of the Industry by Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. In 2007 PAVA shipped overseas 17% of the total volume of exported flour.
