OREANDA-NEWS  On 21 October was announced, that Belarus does not plan to make IPOs in the near future because of the global financial crisis, First Deputy Economy Minister Petr Zhabko told.

“Let's wait and see. Why sell a chicken at half its price if it costs more?” he said when asked about plans to make IPOs.

He confirmed that the state program to sell state stakes in 147 companies would be implemented. He did not specify, though, that sales would be within the set timeframe.

The list of open joint-stock companies, in which the state will sell its stakes in 2008-2010, includes Gomelsteklo, Kolas Printing Factory, Minsk Bearings Plant, Minsk Instrument Plant, Glubokoe Cannery, Brest Carpets, etc.
