OREANDA-NEWS  On 23 October was announced, that Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecom carrier, has established its Point of Presence in Tokyo.

The PoP in Tokyo was set up with direct facilitation of a major Japanese carrier KDDI Corporation and represents yet another milestone in Rostelecom strategic drive to expand international connectivity of its own core network. The new PoP was made possible by the launch earlier in September of a new submarine cable system Russia-Japan connecting Rostelecom cable station in Nakhodka and its KDDI counterpart in Naoetsu by two geographically diverse routes.

The new PoP enables Rostelecom to enhance its offerings in the telecom marketplace and expand high-speed traffic exchange between Europe and Asia along the shortest route leveraging our vast infrastructure capabilities within the framework of Europe-Asia transit (TEA) project.”

Rostelecom offers its services to all international wholesale and corporate market players providing broad opportunities for delivery of various information types (voice/video, IP based applications) between Europe and Asia via Russia.

Currently Rostelecom backbone network has PoPs in London, Stockholm, Helsinki, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo.
