OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2008. Moldova is interested in easing cooperation between local farmers and foreign partners. The statement was made today by Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii within a meeting with an Italian delegation of businessmen, who participate in the international specialized exhibitions Farmer 2008, reported the Official website http://gov.md.

The Italian delegation is made up of producers of fruit and vegetables, potatoes, and olive oil.

The Italian farmers mentioned they are ready to share with Moldovan colleagues their experience of the implementation of the European standards to Moldovan goods, in order to ease the way of Moldovan goods to the European market.

Zinaida Greceanii mentioned that the restrictions previously imposed by Russia regarding the export of Moldova wine was a lesson to be learnt for Moldovan producers, and this lesson also made them understand that they have to improve the quality of exported goods, and also to extend the external market.

The Moldovan prime minister said that the Moldovan government undertook measures to facilitate investments, including in the agricultural sector, and it counts on the partners' experience in order to improve this branch of the Moldovan economy.

Greceanii assured that it is quite favourable for foreign businessmen to initiate partnerships with Moldova, taking into account Moldova's geographical position between two giant economic blocs.

The Moldovan premier expressed interest in the Italian practice in agricultural taxes, which implies a special system for farmers, as well as, the structure of the agricultural cooperatives already existing in Italy and which involve elements of rural tourism.

Zinaida Greceanii appreciated the Italian people's willingness to participate in the international specialised exhibitions Farmer 2008, and wished them every success.
