OREANDA-NEWS  On 28 October was announced, that Peter Spencer , Managing Director of BMI, visited Moscow and held negotiations about the airline’s plans to introduce a second daily service between Moscow Domodedovo and London Heathrow. The new service, which launches on 26 October 2008, builds on the success of the current daily flight.

BMI ’s winter schedule includes an early morning departure from Moscow, offering a wider choice of connection opportunities at London Heathrow. Passengers can now connect directly onto BMI’S short, medium and longhaul networks as well as onto the services of partner airlines to cities across Europe, the USA and Canada.

The new service also sees a widening of the commercial agreement between bmi and Russian Federation carrier Transaero, which will also increase its daily services between Moscow and London. The combined bmi/Transaero partnership now offers a total of four flights a day in each direction - more frequency on the route than any other airline partnership.

Peter Spencer also took the opportunity to discuss the strengths of bmi’s Business Class product. BMI is the only British airline flying to Moscow to offer a dedicated Business Class cabin with two by two seating. The seat pitch of 50 inches is 16 inches more than BMI’S main British competitor on the route.

Mr. Spencer said: “The addition of a second daily service allows us to offer our customers a broader range of destinations. Our new service is timed to connect with flights to popular destinations like Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dublin, Brussels and Amsterdam, as well as many cities across the United States. We are confident that the flexibility of our schedule and the quality of our in-flight service will establish BMI as the airline of choice for anyone travelling from Moscow to London and beyond.”

Sergey Rudakov, Director of Domodedovo Airport Complex said: “The increase in passenger volumes between Russia and Great Britain has resulted in a need for increased capacity. We are very glad, that bmi flights are such a success and will keep building on our partnership.”
