OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2008. The founder of Metalloinvest holding Alisher Usmanov was awarded with the Baltic Star. The international award established in 2004 by the Baltic International Festival Center is given to prominent persons for development and promotion of humanitarian relations, reported the press-centre of Metalloinvest.

The awarding ceremony took place on October, 20 in St. Petersburg's Hermitage Theater. Alisher Usmanov was honored in the special nomination “For culture support”.

Alisher Usmanov is a member of the board of trustees of the Bolshoi Theater, Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and "Et Cetera" drama theatre.

He is also a co-founder of the charity fund “Arts and sports” which supports outstanding art and sport events and projects of Russia. Namely William Turner exhibition to open in November, 2008 in Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts owing to “Arts and sports” fund support.
