OREANDA-NEWS. On October 29, 2008 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko initiated a report of the National Bank of Ukraine on hryvnia rate situation. She told journalists in an interview.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government strongly objects the NBU actions on hryvnia rate. “The Government can’t accept such policy of the National Bank and that’s why we demand to use the gold and exchange currency reserves of the country to stabilize hryvnia rate,” Yulia Tymoshenko stated. At that she added that she sees no conditions for fall in hryvnia rate.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine considers that Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should listen to the report of the National Bank of Ukraine on the current situation with hryvnia rate, in particular, what grounds are there for it. “I ask the National Bank of Ukraine to change its policy and make it quite different – aimed at upholding the national currency”.
