OREANDA-NEWS. November 1, 2008. Russia is interested in building, jointly with Czech companies, new nuclear reactors in the territory of the Czech Republic, Vice Premier of Russia, the co-chairman of the Russian-Czech Inter-Governmental Commission Alexander Zhukov said during a press-conference on Friday, Oct 31.

“I would like to confirm our interest in construction of new nuclear reactors in the territory of the Czech Republic. We believe that it will be more effective if we do it jointly with Czech companies,” Zhukov said.

Such projects will be part of the investment cooperation between Russia and the Czech Republic.

“We believe that Russian-Czech cooperation has very good prospects in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy,” Zhukov said.

The Czech co-chairman, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Martin Шнman pointed out that Russia and the Czech Republic had an agreement for cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

In the framework of this agreement, the countries can build nuclear reactors not only in Russia and the Czech Republic but also in third states.

To remind, CEZ says that it is considering the possibility of announcing a tender for the construction of new reactors at Temelin NPP and that Atomstroyexport (Russia) may be one of the bidders.
