OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2008. The delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) headed by the Stats-Secretary-Deputy Head of the FAS Russia Mr. Andrey Tsarikovsky participated actively in the meetings of the OECD Competition Committee held in Paris, France, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

These meetings are held three times a year and allow competition authorities worldwide to exchange their opinions and develop general principles on the most actual issues of competition policy and enforcement.

This time the attention of Working Groups was focused on the vertical relations in respect of petrol retail, on different aspects of anti-cartel activity of competition authorities. Within the frameworks of the Round Tables there were discussed such issues as retail price maintenance, threats of monopsony and buyer's power for competition, as well as principles of organizing public procurement.

The FAS Russia delegation presented its experience on solving the above mentioned issues of agenda.

The participants of the Competition Committee meetings considered the situation in the retail sector in Italy and Report on competition development in Portugal. Moreover a number of countries presented their Annual Reports on competition policy and enforcement. Furthermore, the Review of competition policy of Israel was considered within the frameworks of the Israel's accession to the OECD; the FAS Russia is to undergo the same procedure in 2009 due the forthcoming accession of the Russian Federation to this organization.

Besides participation in the OECD meeting there was signed a Memorandum on cooperation between the FAS Russia and the Romanian Competition Council that will allow developing of the closer cooperation between two authorities.

The FAS Russia delegation hold a number of bilateral meeting with the delegations of competition authorities from the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Sweden, etc, where issues of cooperation and perspectives of its development were discussed.

Thus, participation in such sort of events allows the FAS Russia to establish closer contacts with the representatives of competition authorities worldwide, as well as to share its experience on solution of the most crucial problems of implementation of competition policy and enforcement.
