OREANDA-NEWS  On 05 November was announced, that Public Council for Urban Development under Moscow City Mayor approved the development of a new residential neighbourhood and an office centre in the place of mill plant 4 on Krasnaya Presnya.

The neighbourhood and the office centre are to be located on 39 Shmitovsky Proezd.

“As a result of the reconstruction of the area we can triple the volume of housing in the neighbourhood, we will enlarge the area of housing development from 100,000 sq m up to 300,000 sq m. The residents who wish to stay in the neighbourhood within Krasnaya Presnya will be able to do this. We will get a good neighbourhood and have the embankment improved,” Aleksandr Kuzmin, chairman of Moskomarkhitektura, said introducing the project to the Public Council for Urban Development on October 29.

According to the official, a mill plant will be relocated and a mixed-use high-rise complex will be erected instead of it. The area of approximately 100,000 sq m will be occupied by offices, the other area will be given over to hotels, community and consumer facilities.

Moscow City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov supported the project on the whole but suggested that an architectural aspect of the residential buildings and the embankment should be worked out carefully.

Mr Luzhkov added that a composition of the new project should be harmonized with the neighbouring complex Moskva-City consisted of the structures of various shapes.

The project of the new development sticks to the easier geometric forms.

A new railway line of the Moscow Metro is planned to be built from MIBC Moskva-City to Savyolovskaya Square with the construction of the southern entry to the station at Shmitovsky Proezd.
