OREANDA-NEWS. November 5, 2008. Reserves of Partnership is the article about Turkmenistan published in the September issue of the Russian economic journal GDP (gross domestic product). The article highly appreciates the activity of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov as the leader of the new formation whose appearance at the political scene the rapid growth of the country’s international prestige, social and economic progress and considerable intensification of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue is associated with. The journal provides a comprehensive overview of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, economic and cultural strategy putting emphasis on the favourable investment climate allowing foreign business partners to build the plans of long-term co-operation with the dynamically developing Turkmen state.

Focusing on similar approaches to the partnership strategy GDP Journal mentions the Caspian gas pipeline project as well as trade co-operation as the examples of the concurrency of Russia’s and Turkmenistan’s energy interests. The article states that creation of the Avaza tourism zone on the Caspian Sea coast, construction of the North-South transport and communication corridor opening the shortest route to the Persian Gulf for Russia and Europe will be a very promising field for investments. The state guarantees the Turkmen Government provides when concluding the procurement deals and investment contracts are proved by the highest degree of reliability that attracts potential partners of Turkmen business. Thus, the leading Russian companies including Gazprom, Lukoil, Itera, Rostelmash, KAMAZ, AutoVAZ, MTS and others have already appreciated these advantages and secured their economic interests in Turkmenistan.

The journal says that President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov attaches priority importance to development of the national educational system and improvement of the standards of education in compliance with the international requirements. Russia actively responds to the Turkmen leader’s call to intensify co-operation between two educational systems. The article states that nowadays over 6,000 young Turkmen boys and girls study at the higher educational establishments of Russia. A number of Turkmen students in Russia are going to increase with every passing year. Also the countries show keen interest in mutual cultural enrichment.

The new Constitution of Turkmenistan elaborated on the initiative of the Turkmen leader and adopted at the nationwide forum stands as a powerful factor of the irreversibility of the fundamental reforms initiated by Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. “For potential partners of Turkmenistan it means a possibility of extending the legal environment to implement large-scale economic projects, enhancing the guarantees of reliability of co-operation with Turkmenistan”, the article makes up a conclusion.
