OREANDA-NEWS. On November 06, 2008 the Kaliningrad Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (OFAS Russia) initiated cases against "Surgitneftegaz" OJSC, "Lukoil-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct" Ltd. and "Ros&Neft" Ltd. for violating the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" for fixing and maintaining monopolistically high pieces for motor petrol and diesel fuel, reported the press-centre of  FAS Russia.

Analysis of the competitive environment on the retail market of motor petrol and diesel fuel, completed by the Kaliningrad OFAS Russia, showed that "Surgitneftegaz" OJSC, "Lukoil-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct" Ltd. and "Ros&Neft" Ltd., which sell oil products on their own and leased petrol stations, have dominant position on the retail market for petrol and diesel fuel in the Kaliningrad region.

Having analyzed the dynamics of prices for motor petrol and diesel fuel in the region, the Kaliningrad OFAS Russia found violations of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition". The Antimonopoly Office concluded that the companies maintain monopolistically high prices which is prohibited under Part 1 Clause 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition". The Kaliningrad OFAS Russia also initiated cases for breaching Part 1 Clause 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" in terms of concerted fixing of prices for motor petrol and diesel fuel.

The cases will be heard on 20th and 21st November 2008.
