OREANDA-NEWS  On 14 November was announced, that the RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan received Mpazi Sinjela, the Dean of WIPO Worldwide Academy.

Armen Azizyan, the Head of the RA Intellectual Property Agency were also present at the meeting.

Welcoming his guest, Mr. Minister stressed the importance of the meeting, because Armenia has lots of synergies and potential to manage the reforming process in the country and try to use all the opportunities for cooperation with the appropriate international organizations.

By Minister's words, it is necessary to have tools to achieve the awareness for IP development and establish the R&D centre, put different types of platforms, where the researchers will meet businesses, in other words, to commercializee the Intellectual Property products.

During the meeting, sides discussed and exchanged opinions on new developing programs, also the current relations and cooperation between the World Intellectual Property Organization and Armenian Intellectual Property Agency.

Mr. Mpazi Sinjela emphasized, that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is dedicated to developing a balanced and accessible international Intellectual Property (IP) system, which rewards creativity, stimulates innovation and contributes to economic development while safeguarding the public interest.

By Mr. Sinjela's words, a country like Armenia, which is determined to build knowledge based economy, should activate its cooperation with WIPO, because WIPO is ready to support and envisage any project in IP sphere: exchange of experience, training programs, providing the expert and advisory assistance.

The Dean of the WIPO Worldwide Academy, stressing the importance of Intellectual Property protection and capacity building in developed and developing countries, said: "The IP protection is important in different fields, and it is necessary to develop National IP policy for IP protection and creation of vibrant innovation society".
