OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2008. The State Fish Industry Committee is planning to build seven enterprises in the cities and regions of Turkmenistan in 2009-2012. The programme aimed at intensifying the development of the industry was adopted by the Resolution of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The production infrastructure of Turkmenistan’s fish industry is being created to fulfill the tasks of ensuring the abundance of food products on the domestic market that is a key priority of the national economic and social policy. Nowadays solid investments are aimed at technology modernization of fish industry, one of the very promising sectors of the national economy. The programme on industry modernization stipulates for developing aquaculture, or breeding fish in the artificial reservoirs. The high effectiveness of commercial cultivation of fish applied worldwide show advantages. The environmental aspect is of particular importance for preserving and replenishing fish resources.

The projects on construction of two fish breeding enterprises will be launched in Turkmenistan next year – the enterprise for breeding trout with the capacity of 50 tons will be put into operation in Geoktepe Etrap in 2011. Trout, a widely distributed species of Salmonidae family, which has several subspecies including sea trout, fresh-water trout, brown trout and coast rainbow trout, is good for breeding at fish farms.

The enterprise will use the effective ecologically friendly technologies. The closed recycling system will allow saving water that can be used after precipitation, treatment and oxygenization. According to specialists, renovated water is the most comfortable environment for ‘royal fish’. Trout hutchlings will be delivered to Turkmenistan until the trout brood stocks are built in the country.

The project on construction of the complex for breeding shrimps, crawfishes and mussels with the estimated cost of 170 billion manats will be implemented in the Turkmenbashi Etrap, Balkan Velayat by 2011. The enterprise will produce and deliver the products of great demand to the local trading network and will export high-quality fish products.

The fish processing plants will be put into operation in Turkmenabat, Khazar and Garabogaz and in the Turkmenbashi Etrap (Dashoguz Velayat) and Oguz Khan Etrap (Mary Vealayat) in 2010-2012. The enterprises will be equipped with cold storage boxes with the capacity of over 100,000 tons of fish products that will allow storing smoked and dried fish for a long time.

Thus, in the near future domestically produced high-quality goods will broaden considerably the range of products on the domestic food market.
