OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2008. Komsomolets Donbassa Mine operating as a part of the vertically-integrated DTEK holding has mined the third million ton of coal since the beginning of the year.

The company stepped over the 3-million threshold for the first time in late 2006. In 2008, it plans to produce 3.5m tons. Heat power plants of Vostokenergo (DTEK) and Dneproenergo are primary consumers of the products of the mine.

Komsomolets Donbassa steps up production regularly and in the beginning of this month set the record of underground workings - 330 metres. The total length of underground workings is expected to go up by 3,000 metres next year and make 21,760 metres. Excellent production performance of the company is ensured through regular upgrades of machinery and power tools.

"The most important recipe for success of Komsomolets Donbassa is certainly the close-knit team of the company. Also, we are working constantly to make the labour of our miners as safe as possible. Pre-certificate audit of the mine's compliance with health and safety management standard OHSAS18001:2007 was completed last month. Komsomolets Donbassa is also realizing an extensive degasification project, which will noticeably improve safety of coal mining", said CEO of Komsomolets Donbassa Mine Sergey Lozovskiy.
