OREANDA-NEWS. On November 17, 2008 Kazakhtelecom (Astana), shares of which are traded in the official list of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) of the first category, provided KASE with the press release, reported the press-centre of KASE:

Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom Askar Zhumagaliev held meeting with the Mayor of the Pavlodar region Bakytzhan Sagintaev. During the meeting rural telecommunications development issues were discussed. Kazakhtelecom is continuing to implement a breakthrough project Modernization and development of rural telecommunications lines using CDMA technology.

In particular, it was noted that Kazakhtelecom accepted for implementation the project on modernization and development of rural telecommunications in the Pavlodar region using СDМА - 450 technologies. The project will be implemented in two stages in 2009-2010.

As a result of realization of the project a modern rural 9044 number telephone network covering 84 settlements will be built. 12 base stations will be established which will allow for substituting 25 outmoded analogous ATS with the total 3054 number capacity for CDMA 450 wireless access equipment. In addition, additional 5990 numbers will be implemented for development of the network, which will allow for meeting current demand for telecommunications services and fully liquidate lines of those waiting for installation of telephones in rural settlements covered by the project.

As B. Sagintaev said the project is completely meeting interests of management in terms improvement of quality and provision of availability of telecommunications service for rural population. "Supply of telecommunications connection to even most remote and smallest areas is crucial to us. It is manifest that availability of telecommunications is a serious investment advantage of the region, a condition of effective business development and regional economy as a whole", - said the Mayor of the region during the meeting.

A. Zhumagaliev informed that on request of the head of the state Kazakhtelecom is intending before the end of the current year finish installation of telecommunications network in rural settlements of the republic.

All 409 rural settlements of the Pavlodar region are provided with telecommunications network and the lines are being modernized and developed.

30,174 connection points have access to the Internet services of Kazakhtelecom as on October 1 in the Pavlodar region. 15,322 connection points have commuted access, 14 852 ports have wide band access. Within a year number of Internet subscribers grew 39.5 %, including on wide band access - 2.9 times.
