OREANDA-NEWS  On 19 November OMZ OJSC (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY) announced that OMZ Foundry Production, a part of OMZ Group, is producing a unique steel casting for Power Machines OJSC. The 45.5 tons of high quality semi-finished steel 15Kh1M1FL casting is designed for a medium-pressure outer cylinder for a steam turbine at the Jyvaskyla Thermal Power Plant, Finland.

The complexity of the production process arises from stringent quality requirements of the metal. After mechanical processing the quality is to be tested with magnetic-particle and ultrasound flaw detection.

OMZ Foundry Production uses the latest technologies to ensure the highest quality of its casting products. A self-hardening mixture is prepared in a new mixer supplied by FTL, UK, and the mixture is made from South African chromite sand. Preparation for the manufacturing process includes computer modeling using MagmaSoft software. Power Machines OJSC and Energico Oy, Finland, the ordering customers, specifically referred to the high quality of the metal in their product acceptance documentation.

Currently OMZ Foundry Production is completing production of the upper half of the casting. The RUR17.5 million contract is to be completed in December 2008.
