OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2008. Machine-Building Concern ORMETO-YUMZ (MC ORMETO-YUMZ) forming part of Uralmash Machine-Building Corporation (MC Uralmash) shipped three sets of equipment for CCM ladle turrets to Oskol electrometallurgical works (OEMK). Two of them were already erected and commissioned. The erection of the third ladle turret is planned for November of this year. The erection of the fourth ladle turret should be finalized in May, 2009. The contract for manufacture of equipment for CCM was signed in May, 2007.

In 1982-1986, MC ORMETO-YUMZ supplied four continuous casting machines to Oskol electrometallurgical works, the machines proved to be reliable in operation and repairable. Currently, the next planned stage of steel-making facilities revamping, which involves replacement of ladle turrets, is underway at OEMK. In addition to the turrets, MC ORMETO-YUMZ supplies computer-aided tundish heating process control system to Oskol electrometallurgical works. The new system used in the manufacture of the tundishes - automatic switching of burners on/off (manual switching on/off in the past) - allows reducing gas consumption.

At the end of October 2008, OEMK representatives visited ORMETO-YUMZ site to carry out acceptance inspection of the last fourth ladle turret. According to Sergey Nekrasov, deputy chief of OEMK arc-furnace shop, there were no problems with the ladle turret quality. The main turrets were already erected; the erection of the third turret is planned for the end of this November and that of the fourth turret for the following year.
