OREANDA-NEWS. On November 21, 2008 Director general of the OPEC Fund for international development Suleyman Al Herbish visited Uzbekistan and held talks on cooperation with the country, reported the Official website www.gov.uz.

Suleyman Al Herbish met the first deputy minister of agriculture and water resources Erkin Turdimov. The sides considered relations in training specialists in the sector, exchange of experience and implementation of new projects.

The OPEC Fund is one of the most active partners of Uzbekistan in reforming the country’s economic sectors, including agriculture. The fund is currently participating in the project of rehabilitation of the Quyimozor pump station in Bukhara region.

The head of the OPEC Fund also held talks with the minister of public education Ghairat Shoumarov, which focused on expansion of cooperation in the field of education.

The fund is financing construction and equipment of about 30 schools for 7,900 students in Uzbekistan in the framework of the joint project with the Saudi Development Fund.

“We are planning joint projects in various areas, including science and education, agriculture and transport communications,” Suleyman Al Herbish said.
