OREANDA-NEWS. December 2, 2008. Gomeldrev has launched the construction of a plant to produce MDF (medium density fireboard).

The investment project is estimated at up Br 100 billion. The new plant is to produce 150,000 cubic meters of fireboard a year. It will process various raw materials, including wood waste. The finished products are to be used for the furniture manufacture right at Gomeldrev and at other similar enterprises of the country.

Apart from MDF, the new enterprise is to produce laminate which will soon replace its imported analogues from the Belarusian market. Part of the products is to be exported.

At present, the preparation work is underway at the plant construction site. The construction machinery is to be brought here in early 2009. The equipment will be supplied by the German company that won the tender.

The plant is to be put into operation in 2010. The project has various sources of financing, including innovation funds and bank loans.

Gomeldrev is one of the leading furniture producers in Belarus. It manufactures cabinet-type furniture, furniture sets for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, various cases and boxes, tables and curtain tracks. The company employs over 4.5 thousand people.
